Rebecca Laho: Education and Early Legal Career
Rebecca Laho is a distinguished graduate of Loyola University, where she earned her degree in Political Science. Following her passion for law, she pursued her Juris Doctorate at Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating in 2001. Rebecca Laho’s legal career has been built on a strong foundation of family law, where she has dedicated herself to representing clients in cases related to divorce, post-decree matters, parenting and support issues, paternity, and adoptions. Her extensive experience in these areas has made her a trusted advocate for families in Illinois. Since 2007, Rebecca Laho has been a certified Guardian ad Litem and Child’s Representative, roles that have allowed her to represent the best interests of children in numerous legal cases. As a Guardian ad Litem, Rebecca serves as the eyes and ears of the court, investigating the circumstances surrounding a child’s case and making recommendations based on what is in the child’s best interest. Founding Partner of Mulyk Laho Law, LLC
Before founding Mulyk Laho Law, LLC, Rebecca Laho gained valuable experience as an associate attorney at two prominent law firms. From November 2001 to April 2006, she worked at Storto & Finn, where she was the primary counsel responsible for handling all family law matters. This position provided her with significant courtroom experience and a deep understanding of family law litigation. From April 2006 to July 2009, Rebecca served as an associate attorney at A. Traub & Associates, further expanding her legal expertise. These roles prepared Rebecca for her eventual partnership at Mulyk Laho Law, where she now offers her clients the benefit of her extensive legal knowledge and hands-on experience.

In addition to her legal practice, Rebecca Laho has held prominent leadership roles within the legal community. She is a past President of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers and the DuPage Bar Foundation, where she worked to support the advancement of women in the legal profession and foster community outreach through charitable initiatives. Sharon Mulyk is a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Political Science. Sharon Mulyk received her Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in 2000. Sharon’s practice is concentrated in family law, including prenuptial agreements, divorce, post decree matters, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, paternity and adoptions. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem in family law and probate matters. In addition, Sharon handles pre and post judgment collection cases. Sharon has prepared and argued appeals before the State of Illinois Appellate Court concerning custody, maintenance awards and attorney’s fees.
Sharon Mulyk is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association, where she served as the President from 2012 to 2013. She has also served, by appointment, as the DCBA Associate Counsel, Chairman of the Family Law Committee Chairman for the Membership Committee, Judiciary Committee, Planning Committee, CLE Committee and has volunteered her time to act as a Judicial Intervention Leader. She is the Past President of the DuPage Bar Foundation, Past President of the Kendall County Bar Association, Past President of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers and Past President of the DuPage Chapter of the Justinian Society of Lawyers. Sharon Mulyk is a former member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council.

Layni G. Miramontes is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Political Science. Layni received her Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Family Law from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2023, where she received the Class of 2023 Concentration Honors in Family Law Award. Layni specializes in family law, including divorce, post-decree matters, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, and paternity. In addition, Layni also handles estate planning.
During law school, Layni served as a Staff Member of the Vol. 40 Journal of Law & Inequality and an Editor of the Vol. 41 Journal of Law & Inequality. She also acted as a Student Attorney and Student Director in the University of Minnesota Family Law Clinic, where she assisted numerous clients navigate the divorce process. Additionally, Layni is a certified Guardian Ad Litem.

Patrick P. Azer is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2023. In Law School, Patrick was a member of the Volume 66 SLU Law Journal where he served as a staff member and a member of the Volume 67 SLU Law Journal where he served as an editor. His article, Laws Surrounding Daily Fantasy Sports and Sports Gambling are Ambiguous; Let’s Just Legalize Both, was published by the SLU Law Online Journal. Patrick was also the President of the Student Bar Association’s Finance Committee. Patrick is also a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
